For the last year, we in Toronto, have worked to organize a convergence of over 40,000 people that came together to act against the anti-people, anti-environment policies of the G8/G20. Following the Summit, we have worked to support those arrested, demanding that all charges be dropped.
With allies across the country, we linked many struggles and movements and took creative and confrontational actions to create the kinds of world we wish to live in. A world with indigenous sovereignty and self-determination; migrants justice and an end to war and occupation; gender justice, queer rights and disability rights; environmental justice; and income equity and community control over resources.
In the face of our organizing, we saw Harper use an armed police force to carry out a direct assault against people in Toronto and across Ontario and Quebec. Resistance to this onslaught has emerged in all quarters and we salute the work of comrades that struggle for justice for all political prisoners.
We send solidarity greetings to the Ottawa Movement Defense Committee that is supporting three people currently facing charges as a result of police infiltration, intimidation and violence before the G20 Summit.
