More anti-G20 graffiti appears in downtown Toronto

Vandals with spray paint have once again defaced property in downtown Toronto with anti-G20 summit slogans.

The three-foot tall red-lettered graffiti was found on a streetcar shelter on Spadina Avenue and Blue Jays Way, north of Lake Shore Boulevard, and read, “G20=New world order.”

Graffiti was also found on a concrete wall across the street from the streetcar shelter. It read, “Get mad!! G20=NWO.”

As the summit draws closer, police are preparing for a possible increase in anti-summit graffiti.

But residents in the area don’t appreciate the red spray paint leaving an ugly mark on their neighbourhood.

“I think it’s unnecessary, I think there’s other ways of sort of protesting the G20 summit over the weekend, so I don’t think it’s appropriate at all, especially on TTC property,” one resident said.

Police are investigating the incident, but haven’t made any arrests.

Two weeks ago, a bank machine on Spadina Avenue was spray painted with anti-summit slogans. Police made arrests in that incident.
