Sarkozy Proposes Next G20 Summit For London

WASHINGTON (AFP)--French President Nicolas Sarkozy on Saturday proposed that the next G20 summit should take place in London, when Britain will be the chair of the group of the world's 20 richest countries.
"I propose that the next (summit) be held in the country that will chair the G20" in 2009, which is Britain, Sarkozy said, before adding "London."

According to the final communique adopted by leaders from the world's 20 richest and emerging countries, the next summit is due to be held by April 30.

"The G20 is now seen as the relevant body" to deal with the issues arising out of the global financial crisis, Sarkozy said.
