Dear people,

To support protests against the G8-summit in Heiligendamm we are organizing a Convergence Center in Hamburg from the 25th of may to the 10th of June in the Rote Flora, a left political project being occupied since 16 years, uninhabited but used in various ways. Believing that it is reasonable to have an autonomous space already ahead of the summit, we want to offer a place where people can meet, get connected and prepare their protest. One of our principal ambitions is to provide a good base for international activists to prepare their resistance in Germany. There will be workshops, lawyers, information, soup kitchen, possibilities of communication and places to sleep. But to make this plan possible we also call for international activists to bring their creativity, their ideas and their action from now on and during the center to Hamburg.

A metropolis like Hamburg is a dedicated action field to put local fights into a global context. As the biggest harbour of Germany and “gate to the world” Hamburg is a junction for global exploitation. Therefore we consider it an adequate opportunity not only to focus on Heiligendamm, but likewise to attack profiteers of neo-liberal policies in local correlations and to make their responsibilities public. The Convergence Center can be a place to discuss and devise summit-protest and local action. The organization is a logistical challenge and so all of you are requested to get actively involved in the preparation and realization of the Center. We appreciate the construction of Convergence Centers in Rostock and Berlin and hope to offer a varied field of possibilities of encounter, actions and resistance for all activists joining us in this year´s protests against the G8-Summit. Help is needed for: soup kitchen, places to sleep, infrastructure / material, translators, medics and events / workshops
