Something Rotten in Denmark? a simple message to the Danish Government

The real “trouble-makers” are companies and the governments allied with them: we are not afraid of being on the right side.

By means of nothing else that our passion and our intelligence – brought on by our bodies – we want to open and legitimate independent political spaces in Copenhagen with all those delegates that want to stop governments and companies pushing for tricks that basically allow business-as-usual to keep on

Today about forty activists from the Italian network “seeyouincopenhagen” have brought to the Danish Consulate in Venice a message. They did it as part of the worldwide mobilization started by CJA in order to stop the new law package “anti trouble-makers”.In fact, the perspective from which the Danish Government looks at the international mobilization of December is that of law and order, instead of that of justice and democracy.

Your legal rights in Denmark

The following is a short review of legal rights in Denmark. Everyone participating in demonstrations in connection with COP15 should know their legal rights in Denmark.

The Battle of the Story of the "Battle of Seattle"

Chris Borte (Contributor), Stephanie Guilloud (Contributor), Anuradha Mittal (Introduction by), David Solnit (Editor), and Rebecca Solnit (Editor)

With the World Trade Organization in retreat globally, do we remember the seeds of the anti-capitalist movements that blossomed and, on November 30, 1999, brought Seattle to a standstill? Released just in time for the 10th anniversary of the Seattle WTO protests, this collection confronts the challenges of historical memory, and suggests just how much we have to learn from (and about) the past decade of activism against globalization.

Vancouver Police 'Set the Record Straight' on Olympic Police State

Chief Constable Jim Chu was joined by VPD Deputy Chief Sweeney, as well as RCMP Superintendent Kevin deBruykere from the Vancouver 2010 Integrated Security Unit for the Olympics Games, as he made the following statement regarding the Olympics:

In the past few weeks concerns have been raised about whether individual rights and freedoms will be suppressed during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Opponents to the games, police critics and hopefully well-meaning journalists have all painted a dire picture predicting exactly what the police are planning to do to take away these freedoms.

NATO Welcoming Committee Edinburgh

For months the NATO Welcoming Committee has been calling on people to come to Edinburgh and take part in action against NATO and against militarism. We have now produced a map of the city centre of Edinburgh showing the location of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and some other institutions which are linked to the militarist system. Our primary target remains the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, the location of the NATO meeting. However, if we cannot reach it, it is important to remember that there are many targets around the city of Edinburgh just as deserving of attention. To find the target maps and other maps visit http://natowc.noflag.org.uk/the-target

To make it as hard as possible for us to be contained and stopped from taking action the meeting place for the demonstration will not be announced until 10.30 am. People should be in the city centre in their affinity groups or with friends by this time. Once the location has been announced people should move to the meeting place and assemble at 11am sharp.
